- Four people died in the incident.

## Summary

A Spokane County sheriff’s deputy has died and a second is on life support after officers were shot while responding to a domestic violence call in Washington state. The incident left four people dead and has prompted the sheriff’s office to pay tribute to the deputies’ efforts to protect others.

Deputies went to a home after a woman reported that her brother had shot her; authorities said he had an active felony warrant and access to several guns. A SWAT team approached and tried to enter the house, where a gunman opened fire; deputies returned fire and rescued two wounded colleagues. The woman’s injuries were not life-threatening, and investigators found three bodies on the property, including the suspect. The second deputy is not expected to survive, and organ donation arrangements are being made.
