Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has published a lengthy essay titled "The Future is for Everyone," setting out his vision for how artificial intelligence, particularly so-called superintelligence, should be developed and regulated, and how Meta intends to position itself within that future. The piece, released on Monday, builds on a shorter letter Zuckerberg wrote last year and again frames Meta as a responsible steward of powerful AI while pushing back against calls for tighter oversight.

The over 6,500-word manifesto covers several themes: winning public support for controversial data centre projects through pledges on energy, water restoration and local jobs; promoting free or low-cost open-source AI to boost personal and economic opportunity; and arguing against restrictions on AI training methods such as distillation, warning that curbing them would let foreign labs overtake the US. Zuckerberg also dismisses concerns that AI will cause widespread job losses, even as he acknowledges it will reshape how people work.
