Fox News Channel has again finished the summer as the most-watched network in weekday primetime, beating not only cable rivals CNN and MS NOW but also broadcast giants NBC, ABC and CBS, marking the second consecutive summer it has achieved this feat. The result underlines Fox News's continued dominance of the US television news landscape, with its lead over competitors widening across nearly every timeslot and format during August.

Since the start of summer, Fox News averaged 2.6 million weekday primetime viewers, ahead of NBC's 2.5 million, ABC's 2.3 million and CBS's two million. In August alone it drew 1.4 million total-day viewers compared with 599,000 for MS NOW and 439,000 for CNN, while primetime saw Fox average 2.1 million against 940,000 and 624,000 respectively. Programmes such as "The Five" (3.3 million viewers) and "Jesse Watters Primetime" (2.9 million) topped the cable news charts, with Fox News claiming 13 of the 15 most-watched shows overall, and "FOX & Friends" extending its run as the top-rated morning show for a 66th consecutive month.
