Framework has released the Laptop 13 Pro, a significant redesign of its modular, repairable laptop that finally addresses the biggest weakness of earlier models: poor battery life. Unlike previous refreshes, which made only minor tweaks, the Pro version overhauls the bottom case, keyboard, trackpad and battery, breaking compatibility with some older parts while retaining others, such as the Expansion Card system. The result, according to the review, is Framework's most polished and best-built laptop yet, though this comes at a steep price.

The redesigned chassis is now machined from a single block of 6063 aluminium and comes in a new dark "Graphite" finish, giving it a sturdier, more premium feel, while the trackpad switches to a haptic, click-free design similar to Apple's MacBook trackpads. The bigger bottom case allows for a larger 74 WHr battery, up from 61 WHr in previous models and 55 WHr in the earliest versions. However, the improvements come at a cost: prices start at $1,500, with the reviewed configuration costing nearly $3,000, and existing owners can retrofit some upgrades onto older Laptop 13 units.
