Aung Phyoe's feature directorial debut Fruit Gathering (Thit-thee Khu) is set to have its world premiere in the Crystal Globe main competition at the 60th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, marking the first time the Czech festival has programmed a film from Myanmar. The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively premiered the trailer for the film, which follows two young women working at a textile factory in Yangon as they navigate exhausting labour, economic uncertainty and social repression while dreaming of intimacy and escape.

The chamber piece explores how women's desires endure in a country where love between women remains socially unacceptable, portraying the pair growing closer despite the pressures of daily life. The cast includes Nandar Myat Aung, Nandar Myint Lwin, Thida Soe Khant, Tin Tin Ei and Min Nyo, with cinematography by Thaiddhi and editing by Emily Swe. The title is drawn from a poetry collection by Rabindranath Tagore, whose Burmese translation the director read; he linked the seasonal act of gathering fruit before the monsoon to a character's longing to return home with someone she wishes to keep in her life.
