Far Out Magazine revisits a 1976 recording moment when Brian Wilson, praising his brother Dennis Wilson decades later, singled out Dennis's vocals on The Beach Boys' "It's OK" as the best of the album 15 Big Ones. The piece places this within the band's uneven post-Pet Sounds era, when Brian's mental health struggles had left Carl and other members steering the group through its late-1960s and early-1970s output, before Brian's much-hyped "comeback" production on 15 Big Ones proved mostly underwhelming.

Despite the album's largely lacklustre reception, with its mix of tired covers and weak originals, it still reached number eight on the Billboard 200, while its cover of "Rock and Roll Music" hit number five. Brian later told Record Collector in 1995 that layering two takes of Dennis's voice on the closing "Find a ride" line sounded "fuckin' fantastic," a rare bright spot on a record made under reportedly rushed and haphazard studio conditions, and a sign of the vocal talent Dennis would carry into his acclaimed 1977 solo album, Pacific Ocean Blue.
