Hulu has renewed the thriller series “Furious” for a second season after it became a breakout hit, with viewing figures increasing week by week since its 27 July premiere. The decision comes before the first season’s eight-episode run concludes on 31 August, signalling the streamer’s confidence in the show’s audience appeal.

Created by Elizabeth Meriwether, the series stars Emmy Rossum as FBI agent Alice Black, who pursues a calculating female serial killer played by Lola Petticrew. Loosely inspired by the 1987 film “Black Widow”, it also features Quincy Tyler Bernstine and Scoot McNairy, while critics have praised its cast and exploration of female victimhood.
