Residents in a new subdivision near Innisfil, Ontario, have created an unauthorised garbage pile that has grown for months, causing fury amongst long-time community members. The accumulation of household waste, including broken toilet seats, tyres and mattresses, has prompted complaints on social media and criticism from local officials who view it as disrespectful and damaging to the once-charming lakeside neighbourhood.

A garbage dumpster that previously served the area was removed, but residents continued depositing rubbish at the same spot. The problem has been exacerbated by a new 153-home residential development approved in early August, for which local waste collection services have not yet been established. Surveillance footage captured residents making multiple trips in broad daylight to dump their waste. The Town of Innisfil prohibits littering and dumping, with fines of £1,300 for those found guilty, and local officials have emphasised the environmental risks to the area's lakes and waterways.
