Game Of Thrones: War For Westeros delayed to 2027, as PlaySide take more time before playing their turn to ensure the RTS hits a “high level of quality”
Game Of Thrones: War For Westeros, the real-time strategy game from developer PlaySide set in George R.R. Martin's Seven Kingdoms, has been pushed back to early 2027. The studio said the game is "progressing well" but needs additional development time to ensure it meets the expectations of both RTS fans and Game of Thrones devotees, having previously been slated for release sometime in 2026.
Alongside the delay announcement, PlaySide shared new footage showing hero units such as Jon Snow and Tywin Lannister using special abilities in battle, as well as unit combat featuring cavalry charges and giants capable of wiping out entire squads unless countered properly. The studio also revealed Ashemark, a Westerlands map tied to Robb Stark's campaign during the War of the Five Kings, designed as a 1v1 battlefield with open lanes and defensible positions. PlaySide promised further news and reveals in the coming weeks as development continues.
