Game of Thrones: War for Westeros RTS delayed to 2027 to “ensure the game reaches the high level of quality we are aiming for”
PlaySide Studios announced a delay for its Game of Thrones real-time strategy adaptation, pushing the launch from 2026 to early 2027. The developer stated that whilst development has progressed steadily, extra time is necessary to achieve the quality level expected by both hardcore RTS players and the broader Game of Thrones audience.
War for Westeros enables players to lead one of four factions, each commanding iconic heroes with levellable abilities that can shift battle outcomes. The studio has prioritised creating visceral combat through detailed attention to unit responsiveness, behaviour mechanics, and physical feedback, aiming to make the battlefield feel weighty and impactful.
