Four men have pleaded guilty to setting fire to four ambulances belonging to the Jewish volunteer emergency service Hatzola in Golders Green, north London. The attack caused more than £1 million in damage and is being investigated by Counter-Terrorism Policing; prosecutors say they will argue at sentencing that it had a terrorist connection.

The arson took place at about 1.35am on 23 March, with oxygen tanks exploding in three ambulances and damaging nearby flats and a synagogue. Prosecutors said the vehicles, fully equipped and worth up to £250,000 each, were targeted by a group expecting payment after an attack claimed by an Iranian-backed militant organisation; a fifth defendant denies assisting an offender and is due to stand trial next year.
