## Summary

Police say nine teenagers attacked a 17-year-old student near Harmony High School in Florida after he had challenged boys who were bullying a girl in the cafeteria. The assault, which investigators say was retaliation, has drawn attention to the consequences of group attacks and the school’s role in responding.

The student and his girlfriend left after an argument at lunch, but police say the group confronted him near his car after classes. A video helped identify the suspects; police allege one boy threw the first punch before eight others joined in. The victim needed 11 stitches, and all nine suspects, aged 14 to 18, were arrested and charged with felony aggravated battery and inciting a riot.
