Gary Oldman, director Curry Barker and producer Robbie Brenner have been announced among the speakers for TIFF: The Market, the Toronto International Film Festival’s inaugural industry market, running from 10 to 16 September. Their participation signals TIFF’s effort to establish the new event as a forum where creative talent and commercial decision-makers can meet.
The programme also includes actor Inde Navarrette, filmmaker Lee Chang-dong, and Killer Films founders Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler, alongside previously announced Warner Bros. leaders Pam Abdy and Mike De Luca. Oldman will discuss his career and creative process as the sixth season of “Slow Horses” premieres at TIFF; Brenner will reflect on producing and leading Mattel Studios; and Barker and Navarrette will examine the success of “Obsession”, which debuted at TIFF last year. A live edition of Matthew Belloni’s podcast “The Town”, featuring Fox Searchlight president Matthew Greenfield, is also planned, with further speakers to be announced.
