Gayle Rankin will lead Ashley Wright, an independent film directed by Logan and Noah Miller, alongside Amy Madigan, Ed Harris and several other actors. The drama follows a homeless mother fighting to retain custody of her two children, making the film a portrayal of poverty, family separation and dignity under pressure.

Rankin plays Ashley, while Evelyn Grace Kite portrays her nine-year-old daughter, Peanut; Madigan plays Ashley’s court-appointed lawyer and Harris a sympathetic judge. Filmed recently in Los Angeles, the project draws on the directors’ family experiences of homelessness and mental illness, and marks the first feature-film appearance by Harris, Madigan and their daughter Lily Harris together.
