General Mills recalls 736,000 Pillsbury rolls over glass contamination fears
General Mills is recalling nearly 736,000 Pillsbury frozen bread rolls in the United States after the Food and Drug Administration warned they may contain "potential foreign material," specifically glass. The recall, which the company initiated on 19 June, covers commercial food-service products rather than items typically bought by individual consumers, though it raises broader concerns about quality control in the food supply chain, following similar glass-contamination recalls at other major food brands earlier this year.
Two products are affected: Hard Roll Dough, with 3,080 cases of 180 rolls each (554,400 rolls total, use-by date 12 October 2026), and Kaiser Roll Dough, with 1,260 cases of 144 rolls each (181,440 rolls total, use-by date 13 October 2026). The recalled dough was distributed across 19 US states, including California, Florida, New York and Texas. It follows recalls in March of Ajinomoto Frozen Foods products, including Trader Joe's and Kroger-branded items, and Aldi's May recall of a vanilla crème brûlée dessert, both also over possible glass contamination.
