## Key points

- Kittle says Bowers is an unusually versatile threat.
- Bowers has 547 yards and five touchdowns in six games.
- The 49ers expect a difficult defensive assignment.

## Summary

George Kittle praised Raiders tight end Brock Bowers ahead of Sunday’s game, describing his route-running, physical ability and skill attacking the ball as unusually versatile. His comments underline the challenge Bowers poses to the 49ers defence, which must account for him in multiple positions and against different types of coverage.

Bowers has 41 catches for 547 yards and five touchdowns in six appearances, with at least 70 receiving yards in every game. He has lined up in the backfield as well as at tight end, and Kittle noted that quarterback Kirk Cousins will sometimes throw to him even when he appears covered. 49ers defensive coordinator Raheem Morris said containing Bowers will require versatile defenders and other options.
