HBO programming chief Casey Bloys has confirmed that filming on the second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the latest Game of Thrones spin-off, is nearing completion, telling fans the team is "finishing up shooting Season 2". The update is notable because the show has been widely embraced as the most faithful adaptation in the franchise to date, reportedly winning back long-time viewers left disappointed by the original series' finale.

Based on George R.R. Martin's Tales of Dunk and Egg, the six-episode first season told the origin story of Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and his squire Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell), who would later become King Aegon V, centring on the events at Ashford Meadow where Egg's true identity is revealed. HBO greenlit the second season before the first had even aired, signalling strong confidence in the project, and despite some production delays filming has been under way since the debut season dropped. The series has since secured nine Emmy nominations, including one for Outstanding Drama Series.
