Gerard Butler’s 2011 biopic Machine Gun Preacher has returned to streaming on Paramount+ from 1 August. The film follows Sam Childers, a former biker who becomes a preacher and travels to East Africa to help rebuild homes damaged by war; its renewed availability may attract viewers curious about one of Butler’s biggest commercial failures.

Directed by Marc Forster, the 129-minute film co-stars Michelle Monaghan and Michael Shannon and is based on Childers’ book Another Man’s War. It received poor reviews on release and earned only $3.7 million worldwide against a reported $30 million budget, substantially underperforming at the box office.
