- Merz pledged continued support for Ukraine.
- Germany expects to provide €200 million in winter aid.
- Eleven gas-fired power stations are planned.

## Summary

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Berlin and promised continued support for Kyiv, saying the war’s outcome will shape European security for years. Merz urged Russia to engage seriously in ceasefire and peace talks, but said he saw no sign it was doing so.

Germany is expected to provide €200 million in additional winter aid as Russia is anticipated to target civilian infrastructure. The roundup also reports a German arrest over the September arson attack on a Polish satellite internet station used by Starlink, and plans for 11 gas-fired power stations to support the electricity grid when renewable output is low.
