## Key points

- The premiere revisits Pete’s disappearance and brings him back before the credits.
- Hetty and her estranged sister are at the centre of the Halloween story.
- The review praises the show’s cosy tone and sweet family storyline.

## Summary

The two part “Ghosts” Season 6 premiere offers a familiar, cosy Halloween story built around Pete’s disappearance and Hetty’s troubled family history. The review finds the episode entertaining and unexpectedly tender, while noting that its comforting formula is more its strength than a source of surprise.

With Sam away in Australia, Kyle helps Jay care for the ghosts as they try to bring Pete back, despite his request for no séance. A replacement mirror brings Hetty’s estranged sister Margaret into the story; Margaret has been trapped inside it since her death nearly a century ago and swaps places with Hetty. Pete returns before the second episode ends, while the mirror plot briefly raises the possibility of another character being lost.
