Kevin Keegan, the former Liverpool, Hamburg, Southampton and Newcastle United forward and ex-England manager, has died at the age of 75. Widely regarded as one of English football's most charismatic and influential figures, Keegan built a career of remarkable highs and occasional lows, becoming a superstar player before moving into management, where he is remembered as arguably the most beloved figure in Newcastle United's history.

Signed by Liverpool from Scunthorpe United for £35,000 in 1971, Keegan scored on his debut and went on to win three league titles, the European Cup, the FA Cup and the Uefa Cup twice, including a two-goal display in the 1974 FA Cup final win over Newcastle. He later captained England and starred for Hamburg before returning to English football with Southampton and then Newcastle, where as manager he revived the club's fortunes and led an entertaining title-chasing side, best remembered for his emotional "I will love it if we beat them" outburst during the dramatic 1995-96 title race against Manchester United.
