The Dublin band Gilla Band have announced their new album, Pugnello, which will be released via Rough Trade on 25 September. The announcement follows the band's return in May with their first new song in three years, and it marks a significant step for a group that has kept a relatively low profile since their 2022 album Most Normal.

Alongside the news, the quartet — Dara Kiely, Alan Duggan Borges, Daniel Fox and Adam Faulkner — shared a new track, "Placeholder", accompanied by a colour-saturated video directed by Cuan Roche. The album is entirely produced by the band and mixed by Fox, and Kiely has described "Placeholder" as a reflection on childhood comforts such as Big Brother and the Power Rangers. The 10-track record includes songs such as "The Angelus", "The Megazord" and "Computer Sadness", and the band will tour North America and Europe in support from this autumn through to 2027.
