Girl, 10, who ‘didn’t have mean bone in her body’ identified as third victim of Wisconsin boating crash that also killed her six and seven-year-old cousins
A 10-year-old girl, Kathryn "Kate" Schmidt, has been named as the third child to die in a boating accident on Lake Geneva in Walworth County, Wisconsin. The vessel she was aboard capsized on Friday when a violent storm swept through the area. Her death, alongside those of two young cousins, underlines the deadly speed with which the storm overwhelmed the boat.
The two other victims were siblings Caleb Oswald, six, and Abigail Oswald, seven, Kathryn's cousins, according to a GoFundMe set up by the family. Her father, Jonathon, paid tribute to a "bubbly" girl who "didn't have a mean bone in her body" and loved tennis, softball, animals and painting. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help children from less well-off families take part in sport and adopt animals, reflecting Kate's passions.
