Glen Hansard: Family Announces Memorial Arrangements, Public Funeral

Rolling Stone · 6 hours ago

Glen Hansard’s family has announced public memorial and funeral arrangements following the Irish singer-songwriter’s death in a motorcycle crash aged 56. The events will allow fans to pay their respects, while limited cathedral capacity means much of the funeral audience will need to follow proceedings outside or by broadcast.

A public wake will be held at the Baroque Chapel at IMMA in Dublin on 3 August from 11am to 4pm, followed by a public funeral at St Patrick’s Cathedral at 1.30pm on 4 August. A public-address system will be installed outside, and RTÉ News and RIP.ie will carry the service live; the family has requested donations to Dublin’s Simon Community or Ukrainian Action instead of flowers and asked for privacy.
