Glen Hansard’s family have confirmed that friends and relatives will provide music at the late singer-songwriter’s funeral, alongside arrangements for a public wake and service in Dublin. The announcement offers further details for mourners following Hansard’s death in a motorcycle crash on 29 July, aged 56.
He will lie in repose at the Baroque Chapel in the Irish Museum of Modern Art from 11am to 4pm on 3 August, followed by a public funeral at St Patrick’s Cathedral at 1.30pm on 4 August. Entry to the cathedral will be extremely limited, but audio will be provided outside and the service streamed by RTÉ News and RIP.ie; donations are requested for Dublin Simon Community or Ukrainian Action instead of flowers.
