Glen Hansard’s family has announced public memorial and funeral arrangements in Dublin following the Irish singer-songwriter’s death in a motorcycle crash. The events will allow fans to pay their respects to the Oscar-winning musician, whose work with The Frames, The Swell Season and Once made him a prominent figure in Irish music.

A public wake will take place at the Baroque Chapel at IMMA’s Royal Hospital Kilmainham on 3 August, from 11am to 4pm, while the funeral is scheduled for 1.30pm on 4 August at St Patrick’s Cathedral. Cathedral access will be very limited, though RTÉ News and RIP.ie will broadcast the service live; the family has requested donations to Dublin Simon Community or Ukrainian Action instead of flowers, and asked for privacy. Hansard was 56 and died on 29 July near his Dublin home.
