Glimpse expands CT scanning software to detect defects in critical parts

TechCrunch ·

Glimpse is expanding its CT-scanning software beyond battery inspections with Explore, a product designed to help manufacturers find defects in critical parts. Faster checks could help companies catch quality problems earlier and reduce the risk and cost of recalls.

The company says its software can make battery-cell inspections 10 to 30 times faster on existing scanners, with a partner-built “super scanner” aiming for scans in one or two seconds. Glimpse says it has more than 100 customers, including Anker, Lucid and the US Navy, and revenue in the mid seven-figure range. Its new service will also let companies without scanners send parts to Glimpse for inspection.

  • Glimpse is bringing faster CT quality checks to more industries.
  • Its software aims to inspect battery cells 10 to 30 times faster.
  • Companies can also send parts to Glimpse for scanning.

Glimpse is a company that provides software for CT scanners, specialised machines that create detailed internal images of products. Manufacturers use these machines to identify defects without damaging the items themselves. Spotting problems at the production stage helps companies avoid expensive recalls and potential safety issues.

Manufacturers need high quality and reliability across their products, especially for critical components like batteries where failures could be dangerous or costly. Inspecting every item using traditional methods would be extremely time-consuming and expensive. More efficient scanning technology allows companies to check more products quickly and catch defects before they leave the factory, reducing costs and risks.

This type of scanning technology is becoming increasingly important in manufacturing as quality standards rise and products become more complex. Companies across various industries, from consumer electronics to defence, now rely on advanced inspection tools. As these technologies become faster and more reliable, they enable manufacturers to maintain higher quality standards whilst keeping costs manageable.
