General Motors has unveiled a redesigned digital interface for the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks, taking a more minimalist approach across both the driver's instrument cluster and central infotainment screen. Crucially, unlike GM's newer electric vehicles, these trucks retain Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, suggesting the firm has softened its earlier stance of dropping phone-casting in favour of a fully proprietary system.

The instrument cluster now offers several selectable views, including simple half-moon dials, a Super Cruise driver-assist display, off-road and towing modes, and a stripped-back mode showing only large white speed digits for night driving, with key information such as fuel level and warning lights always visible at the bottom. The central touchscreen, still built on Android Automotive OS, gains a more functional split-screen home view with full map access, Android-style notifications and quick actions, and improved call handling that no longer interrupts active apps. CarPlay and Android Auto are now integrated as a large window alongside native app tiles, an approach GM product manager Colin McCormick helped detail, echoing a similar strategy recently adopted by Porsche.
