## Key points

- God of War Laufey moves to 20 May 2027.
- Sony Santa Monica says it needs more development time.
- Kratos is expected to feature, and another Kratos-led game is in development.

## Summary

Sony Santa Monica has delayed God of War Laufey from February to May 2027, saying it needs more time to meet players’ expectations. The change gives the game more room in a crowded release period and is significant for a high-profile PlayStation title that has already drawn criticism from some fans.

The game is now due on 20 May 2027, rather than 16 February. The studio says it will share more details soon; the collector’s merchandise box announced for the original date may or may not also be delayed. Laufey is expected to continue the story established in the 2018 game and its follow-up, with Kratos also playing a role, while a separate Kratos-led title is in development.
