Director Takashi Yamazaki has shared new details about "Godzilla Minus Zero," the sequel that will conclude the story he began with the acclaimed "Godzilla Minus One". Speaking to Polygon as part of a fall preview feature, Yamazaki revealed that beyond classic monster movies, his influences for the new film include Alfonso Cuarón's "Children of Men" and Steven Spielberg's "War of the Worlds", lending the film a sense of suffocating tension and relentless, human-perspective peril.

Yamazaki explained that a long single-take chase sequence was inspired by the famous unbroken shot in "Children of Men", while the merciless nature of the alien attacks in "War of the Worlds" informed how Godzilla's rampage is depicted. He also discussed the technical challenges of shooting for IMAX, noting the need for extensive computer-generated rendering to suit different aspect ratios, while confirming the format will make the kaiju feel almost life-size on screen. "Godzilla Minus Zero" is due to open in US cinemas on 6 November.
