## Key points

- Yamazaki follows Godzilla Minus One with an IMAX-scale sequel.
- King Ghidorah emerges as the main threat.
- Family drama remains at the heart of the monster spectacle.

## Summary

Takashi Yamazaki’s Godzilla Minus Zero follows his Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One, returning to the Shikishima family while expanding the scale with IMAX visuals and a new monster threat. The review says its emotional human story remains central even as the film builds towards a spectacular battle between Godzilla and King Ghidorah.

Set two years after the first film, the 135-minute sequel has Ghidorah dominating the skies over Matsumoto. Disaster officials devise a plan to defeat it, while Koichi and Noriko’s family is drawn into the crisis; the film also explores their painful decision to part with their five-year-old daughter, Akiko. The review praises the visual effects, produced by a team only slightly larger than the 35 artisans on the first film, and says the ending leaves room for another instalment.
