## Key points

- Firebase Studio will close on 22 March 2027.
- Users can export projects before the shutdown.
- Google points developers to AI Studio or Antigravity.

## Summary

Google is shutting down Firebase Studio, its browser based coding workspace, and directing developers towards AI Studio and Antigravity. The change reflects Google’s shift towards coding tools where AI plays a more central role, while leaving current users time to move their projects.

New workspace creation and sign ups ended on 22 June, and users have until 22 March 2027 to export their work before the service closes and remaining data is deleted. Google AI Studio is browser based and centred on prompts, while Antigravity is a desktop app for working with code and AI agents; both can connect to Firebase, which will continue operating. Developers’ choices may also depend on tool costs, including subscriptions and usage charges.
