Google says it fixed 1,072 security flaws across two Chrome releases in June, exceeding the 1,036 bugs patched in the preceding 23 releases over two years. The company attributes the sharp rise to internal AI tools, arguing that large language models are making vulnerability discovery and repair faster and more scalable, which could improve browser security but also reflects a wider increase in automated bug-finding.

Google’s latest releases, Chrome 149 and 150, followed Chrome 126 in June 2024; the company refers to releases as “milestones”. Chrome engineering director Doug Turner said Gemini helps Google identify and fix vulnerabilities before attackers exploit them. Microsoft has also linked a record 570 fixes in its latest monthly patch cycle to AI use, while an independent count suggests Apple’s 482 fixes in 2026 are broadly in line with recent years rather than showing similar growth.
