Graham Platner ex reveals reach-out before campaign, says he was trying to ‘take my temperature’
Lyndsey Fifield, who dated Democratic Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner between 2013 and 2015, has claimed that a friendly text message he sent her in June 2025 was an attempt to gauge whether she would stay quiet about his past. Fifield, one of several women to speak publicly about Platner's conduct, believes the exchange was designed to "take her temperature" ahead of his campaign launch, and she says she never regarded him as fit for office. The account matters because it followed Platner's withdrawal from the race on the Wednesday night in question amid mounting pressure from his own party.
According to Fifield, Platner's message complimented her "happy family" photos on Instagram and joked that, as "a simple oyster farmer," he had nothing "unflattering" to worry about because "oysters don't require a clearance." She says he then expressed being "immensely curious" about what she had written in her diary regarding their relationship; she replied cordially that she might let him read it "when we're old," while privately feeling appalled and screenshotting the message to a friend. Platner launched his Senate bid in August 2025, the month after the alleged exchange, and his campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
