Grand Ole Opry’s Opry 100 Honors to Celebrate Charley Pride’s Career and Legacy
The Grand Ole Opry will honour the late Charley Pride, country music's first Black superstar, at an Opry 100 Honors show on 22 September at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. The tribute, part of a series celebrating country legends since 2025, will feature performances from Opry members Darius Rucker and Pam Tillis, alongside Neal McCoy and Pride's son, Dion Pride.
Pride, who died in 2020, scored 29 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, including "Kiss an Angel Good Mornin'" and "Is Anybody Goin' to San Antone," and won three Grammy Awards. He was named CMA entertainer of the year in 1971, inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2000, and became an Opry member in 1993 after first performing there in 1967. Five dollars from every ticket sold will go to the Opry Trust Fund, which assists country music professionals facing financial hardship.
