A coalition of more than 50 US advocacy groups has launched the Stop Bleeding the Future campaign, urging political candidates and elected officials to reject backing from Leading the Future, a pro-AI super PAC network. Led by QuitGPT, the campaign argues that the technology industry is using its political influence to weaken AI regulation and prioritise corporate interests over voters, amid growing concerns about job losses, infrastructure attacks and the broader risks of AI.

Leading the Future has reportedly raised more than $140 million for the 2026 election cycle, with support from figures including OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman, Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale and venture capitalist Marc Andreessen. The network is also involved in disputes over datacentre expansion, while its opponents highlight Brockman’s $25 million donation to MAGA Inc and OpenAI’s $200 million US defence contract; New York Representative Pat Ryan is among the first officials to sign the pledge, while Leading the Future had not commented.
