Green Day’s Mike Dirnt to sell bass guitars and clothing from historic collection
Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt is making a substantial personal collection available for auction through the online music marketplace Reverb, launching September 9th. The sale encompasses vintage bass guitars, stage equipment, and apparel accumulated across his decades-long career with the legendary punk band.
Dirnt characterised the decision as part of a natural creative cycle in which instruments inspire his work before passing to new owners. The auction features bass guitars damaged during the band's Nimrod and Warning tours, a Gibson Grabber accidentally destroyed by both Dirnt and drummer Tré Cool, and stage-worn garments from significant music videos including the leather jacket from 'Wake Me Up When September Ends.' Revenue from the clothing portion of the sale will support charitable causes.
