The Green Party is facing legal action from some of its own members after Eleanora Folan, a transgender woman who describes herself as a communist and "anti-Zionist", won a vote to fill a women's role on the party's council representing the Eastern Region. Gender-critical members argue the appointment breaches the UK Supreme Court's ruling last year that "woman" under the Equality Act 2010 refers only to biological sex, and say the case reflects a wider pattern of the party ignoring the law rather than an isolated incident.

Jude English of Green Women's Declaration and Green Party Women said the leadership had made no meaningful effort to review its rules following the Supreme Court judgment, adding that the party already faces several court cases over alleged breaches of equality law. Folan, who runs the X account "Stats for Lefties" with almost 100,000 followers, has previously claimed Labour caused more deaths than Iran's government and called for Israel's "abolition". The Greens, led by Zack Polanski, are already contending with separate legal action over their sex and gender policies, with the Good Law Project backing the party's defence.
