## Summary

A man was shot dead on Mahoneys Road in Reservoir, in Melbourne’s north, shortly before midnight on Tuesday. Homicide detectives are investigating his death and whether the shooting was a targeted attack, while police search for the gunman.

The victim has not yet been formally identified and could not be revived at the scene. Detectives are examining a possible link to a burnt-out car found later in nearby Thomastown; people who set it alight reportedly left in a white car.
