Chuck Varga, a founding member of the theatrical heavy metal band GWAR, has died following a battle with cancer. Varga, who performed as The Sexecutioner from 1985 to 2022, was an integral part of the band for over four decades and helped establish GWAR's distinctive artistic vision and legacy in heavy music history. His death was announced on 25 September by bandmate Casey Orr, noting that Varga passed peacefully with his wife at his side.

Varga's contributions extended beyond performance to include illustrations, character designs, and artistic direction that shaped GWAR's unique aesthetic and universe. In June, GWAR had launched a fundraiser to cover his mounting medical expenses, hospice care, and support for his wife, who had stepped away from work to care for him full-time. His passing follows that of another founding member, Dave Brockie, who died in 2014 at age 50 from an accidental heroin overdose.
