An industry group called The Brigade, whose members include producers Haim Saban, Lawrence Bender and Teddy Schwarzman, has publicly accused actor Mark Ruffalo of using antisemitic tropes in his criticism of Paramount's leadership over its proposed merger with Warner Bros. Discovery. The row centres on Ruffalo's opposition to the deal and his long-standing pro-Palestinian activism, and it highlights how tensions over Gaza are spilling into corporate and industry disputes in Hollywood, drawing in some of the entertainment world's most prominent Jewish executives and producers.

The dispute follows an Instagram post by Ruffalo on 21 August highlighting Oracle's ties to the Israeli military, including a clip of former Oracle chief executive Safra Catz discussing Israel's war effort in Gaza. Ruffalo's post targeted Oracle founder Larry Ellison, who controls Paramount through a family trust and is the father of Paramount chief executive David Ellison, as well as being the financial backer of the WBD merger. The Brigade, describing itself as representing nearly 1,000 people across film, television and other entertainment platforms, said singling out Jewish executives in this way was "antisemitic," a characterisation Ruffalo has rejected as "appalling and fundamentally dishonest." Paramount and the Simon Wiesenthal Center have also criticised Ruffalo, while actress Hannah Einbinder called the antisemitism accusations "ludicrous" in his defence.
