Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall has signed a new contract extending his stay at the club until 2031, resisting reported interest from Manchester United. The 22-year-old, a boyhood Newcastle supporter, agreed a two-year extension to his original deal after joining from Chelsea in 2023, in what the club regards as a significant move to secure one of its key young players.

Hall has made 106 appearances since his move from Chelsea and has been praised by head coach Matthias Jaissle for his work rate, defensive maturity and technical ability going forward. He has already provided two assists this season and, according to Premier League data from last season, led full-backs in high-speed and underlapping runs while ranking among the top three for completed dribbles. Hall has won four England caps but missed out on the World Cup, and will hope his form helps him force his way back into the squad.
