Halo: Campaign Evolved won’t let you boundary break, annoyed fans say
Fans of Halo: Campaign Evolved have criticised the remake’s apparent use of instant-death boundaries, which prevent players from exploring beyond intended mission routes. The change matters because boundary-breaking was a long-standing part of the original Halo experience, enabling players to discover unusual spaces, exploit physics and create memorable co-operative moments.
The complaints centre on “The Silent Cartographer”, where a player reportedly died after climbing ledges around a Forerunner structure. The Unreal Engine 5 remake is in early access on PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X, and has otherwise been praised for recreating much of 2001’s Halo: Combat Evolved; however, players hope future mods or an official modifier will restore freer exploration.
