New York singer-songwriter Hank Heaven has announced a new EP, Welterweight, alongside the release of its lead single "I Wanna Be Your Man". The song, described as a candid track about developing feelings for a casual hookup, features Heaven's conversational vocal delivery over a sparse acoustic guitar arrangement with strings and woodwinds. It marks Heaven's first EP since signing to Nice Life Recording Company, following a career that has included touring and session guitar work for artists such as Samia and Del Water Gap.

Welterweight was recorded with producer Phil Weinrobe, known for his work with Adrienne Lenker and Big Thief, and follows Heaven's 2024 EP Loaded Dice, which featured a collaboration with Beach Bunny. The new single follows "Thread", released the previous month, and arrives with a Weston Borg-directed video shot in New York's Financial District. The six-track EP, which includes songs such as "Seinfeld" and "Dog Needs Man", is due for release on 14 August via Nice Life Recording Company.
