- Abdul El-Sayed defeated Mike Rogers in Michigan’s Senate race.
- Stevens’s late endorsement of Rogers drew backlash.

## Summary

Comedian Hannah Einbinder posted an impression of Michigan Representative Haley Stevens after Abdul El-Sayed won the state’s closely watched Senate race. The “Hacks” star had promised to perform the impression if El-Sayed won, and celebrated his victory with a separate “Mazel tov” post.

El-Sayed defeated Republican Mike Rogers, becoming the first Muslim elected to the US Senate, as Democrats gained control of both chambers of Congress. Stevens, who lost the Democratic primary to El-Sayed in August, had endorsed Rogers days before the election; her CNN interview about the decision spread online and drew criticism from Democratic leaders, while several staff members resigned.
