Prince George has turned 13, marking the occasion with a new official portrait taken by photographer Matt Porteous at Kensington Palace following last month's Trooping the Colour. The image, shared by his parents the Prince and Princess of Wales with the message "Happy 13th birthday, George!", comes shortly before he begins a new chapter as a boarder at Eton College this September, following in his father's footsteps.

The move to Eton will be George's first time at school without either of his younger siblings, Charlotte or Louis, since 2019, and he is expected to remain out of the public eye until term begins in the autumn. He was most recently seen with his family at Wimbledon earlier this month, and royal watchers have remarked on how much he has grown, both in the new portrait and during recent appearances such as Trooping the Colour and a visit to RAF Coningsby with his mother.
