Deadline · 1 month ago

Netflix has assembled a supporting cast for its upcoming political thriller 'The Lord's Day', adding Harry Lawtey, Arsema Thomas, Sophie Willan, Gemma Whelan, and Timothy Spall to the series led by Damson Idris. The six-part production, from Bad Wolf Studios, draws from a Michael Dobbs novel and will film in the UK, with showrunners Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley at the helm.

The story positions Idris as a British secret services agent who becomes trapped in Parliament during a state ceremony, where a sudden lockdown forces him to navigate competing loyalties and danger whilst attempting to resolve a constitutional crisis. The premise combines espionage elements with institutional drama centred on the nation's political heart, exploring how the protagonist's training and judgment become critical to national survival.
