Unlike the original film series, which required Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint to commit to just one two-hour film per year, the new series demands significantly more from its child actors, as producers aim to release a season annually. This adds to a string of difficulties already surrounding the project, including the recasting of Ginny Weasley for Season 2 and criticism of the show's desaturated visual style.

The core issue stems from the series' more expansive format, with the first instalment, The Philosopher's Stone, being stretched into a full eight-episode season rather than a single condensed film. Cinematographer Adriano Goldman told Variety that this heavier workload has placed considerable pressure on the production as a whole, highlighting a structural problem the original films, which trimmed storylines for a leaner narrative, never had to contend with.
