Harry Styles has been given a gold Blue Peter badge
Harry Styles has been awarded a gold Blue Peter badge by the long-running BBC children's programme in recognition of his record-breaking run of concerts at Wembley Stadium. The 'As It Was' singer broke the record for the longest residency by a musician at the venue with his 12th show on 4 July, and presenter Shini Muthukrishnan handed him the special badge to mark the feat. The honour is notable because the gold edition of the badge is rarely given, reserved for outgoing presenters and guests deemed to have achieved something extraordinary.
Previous recipients of the gold badge include Queen Elizabeth II, Steven Spielberg, Captain Tom Moore and Sir Paul McCartney, who received his in 2019. Styles, who said he grew up watching the show, described the award as possibly his "proudest achievement" and offered a message of encouragement to young viewers. He will be shown receiving the badge and answering readers' letters on the episode airing on Friday 10 July. His record-breaking 12th Wembley date, part of the 'Together Together' tour, featured a Pride celebration with drag performers and an emotional congratulatory appearance from his sister, Gemma.
