Graham Platner faces sexual assault claim as Hasan Piker withdraws support

Fox News · 1 day ago

Progressive Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, an influential figure among left-wing audiences whose endorsement many Democratic candidates have sought, has publicly turned against Democratic Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner following a sexual assault allegation reported by Politico on Monday. Reacting live on his stream, Piker said he believed the accuser and predicted the claim would be "curtains" for Platner's campaign, marking a significant blow given Piker's reach with the progressive base Platner would need.

The allegation was made by Platner's ex-partner, Jenny Racicot. Piker was particularly struck by Politico's reporting that it had spoken to a man Racicot dated and confided in afterwards, and had reviewed documents including emails between Racicot and her therapist and messages warning an acquaintance against becoming involved with Platner years before he entered politics. Piker called this combination a "trifecta of a reliable allegation". Other liberal media figures, including MS NOW host Luke Russert, also questioned whether Platner could remain the party's nominee. Platner has released a video responding to the allegations, and the report notes a former primary rival has resurfaced to challenge him.
